Details

Packet Pickup will be on Wednesday, November 27th from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm and 4:00 to 6:00 pm. This involves ensuring that each participant receives their shirt and their race packet, and also helping address questions and concerns. Refreshments for volunteers will be provided. A smartphone is handy as we will be checking in runners using Runsignup's RaceDay Check-In App. Please download the app ahead of time (instructions will be emailed ahead of time). The last shift goes until 6:30-6:45 pm and will entail clean up. Thank you!

Details

You will help set up on Wednesday before the race. Tasks include setting up the big tent, (placing tables, sponsor banners inside the tent) and helping place course flagging along the Museum parking lot for the corrals.

Details

Manage race-day registration and packet pickup at our staging area at the Museum of the Rockies. This involves helping the Timer, using a computer, collecting the entry fee, distributing shirts, and addressing questions and concerns.

Start Line Helper High Priority

You must be 16 or older to volunteer for this task.

Details

You will help prepare the Start Line area before the races start. Tasks include setting up the starting line flags, helping to maintain order, answering questions as to how runners line up, and assisting with the release of runners for each race. Start Line Helpers will transition to the finish line to help cheer on participants and funnel them toward the Finish Line Water Station. Please read the website for race start times and be familiar with the corral system to help runners line up accordingly. The shift will end when the corrals are empty between 10:30 am - 11:00 am.

Tent Operations

Photographers

Details

Photographers will help shoot candid photos before, during, and after the event. There will be plenty of activities and opportunities for memorable scenes and views. Your photographic creativity is encouraged! We kindly ask that you provide Rachel with a copy of your photos afterward (email, CD, Dropbox, etc.) so they can be displayed on our event website. Please stay off the course so as not to endanger yourself and the participants. The Kids' Run is our first event and starts at 8:00 am.

You must be 18 or older to volunteer for this task.

Please note that in order to complete this task you must be a certified race flagger.

Certified Flaggers will be stationed at key intersections throughout the race course. Your responsibility is to control vehicle traffic in order to ensure participants’ safety and direct participants at turns along the courses. Please wear hearty smiles and shout encouraging words to the participants! Volunteers must be familiar with the courses in order to direct participants and answer questions. Course maps can be found on our website and will also be sent via email. Placement on Race Course TBD. 10K Bicycle Pace Leader

A brightly dressed and speedy bicyclist to lead the field of 10K participants. Pace Leaders must be familiar with the courses and be able to stay comfortably ahead of the lead runners without interfering with the pace of the races. The courses are mostly pavement but could be snow- and/or ice-covered. The use of bicycles is dependent upon the weather and road conditions; the use of studded tires is encouraged. Course maps can be found on our website and will also be sent via email.

10K Bicycle Safety Patrollers

Two brightly dressed bicyclists to serve as safety patrollers for the 10K course. You will ride the courses back and forth to check on participants’ safety. The courses are mostly pavement but could be snow- and/or ice-covered. The use of bicycles is dependent upon the weather and road conditions; the use of studded tires is encouraged. Course maps can be found on our website and will also be sent via email.

10K Bicycle Sweeper

Brightly dressed bicyclists to serve as Sweeper for the 10K course. You will follow the last participant toward the Finish Line and advise Course Flaggers and Water Station Volunteers that the courses are clear according to the Sweepers’ progress along the routes. Note that walkers will be fully supported for the Untimed 5K Fun Run and have been asked not to participate in the 10K due to time constraints. The Course Sweeper for the 10K will sweep behind the last runner since walkers on the 10K will not be supported. The courses are mostly pavement but could be snow- and/or ice-covered. The use of bicycles is dependent upon the weather and road conditions; the use of studded tires is encouraged. Course maps can be found on our website and will also be sent via email. Shift will end after the last runner finishes, around 11:00 am.

Wagon Wheel Water Station

Details

You will help with setting up the station, preparing drinks and cups, distributing drinks and assisting race participants in a friendly, efficient manner, picking up litter and emptying trash after the races. The Wagon Wheel water station serves the 10K and 5K. Please encourage slower runners to keep right.

Notes: 1) The 10K Course uses Wagon Wheel Road twice, both times traveling the same direction south and curving west. After completing Wagon Wheel the first time, they will turn left onto South 3rd. After completing Wagon Wheel the second time, they will turn right onto South 3rd. Please wear hearty smiles and shout encouraging words to the participants!

Course maps can be found on our website and will also be sent via email—use these to verify the location of water stations. Shift ends at 10:30 am or when Bicycle Course Sweeper has advised that the last participant has passed.

Finish Line Volunteers will also hand out the Smoke the Turkey prizes to 5k runners. Please wear hearty smiles and help clear the race course by directing runners to the Food & Beverage tents and Awards tent.
